A Texas federal jury awarded Wapp Tech LP, represented by Rob Kramer and other attorneys now working together at Kramer LLP, a $172.6 million verdict in its suit against a Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. spinoff and its parent company, Micro Focus (US) Inc. The unanimous verdict was the largest ever awarded in the Sherman Division of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The award represented the full amount sought by the plaintiff.

Robert Kramer served as lead counsel for the trial team, which secured the record-setting result on behalf of Wapp Tech. After deliberations lasting less than three hours, the jury found the HPE spinoff and Micro Focus (US) Inc. liable for willful infringement of three Wapp Tech patents. The asserted patents cover technology for designing and testing applications for mobile devices, at the center of the dispute over the defendants’ software.

The verdict ranks among the most significant patent awards in the district’s history and reflects Kramer LLP’s team’s record of delivering results for inventors and patent owners against some of the world’s largest companies.
